A California based “Grocery Savings Club” may be contacting you, as they have many Northern Michigan shoppers with an offer that sounds too good to be true. Grocery Savings Club is offering to assist you to “easily save up to one thousand dollars or more on your groceries and related services”. A Gaylord man received a postcard from the business in the mail, and called to sign up for the “Savings Club”, in order to receive discounts and gift cards to Target and Wal-Mart. He says he never received anything, called and cancelled, and was billed for two months by four different clubs, resulting in overdrafts and fees from his bank. Grocery Discount Club Online and a number of associated businesses have an F Rating from the BBB due to many complaints. 36 of those complaints were related to advertising, sales, and problems with the service. The BBB recommends that you always check a business out through the BBB and other resources before joining, buying, and providing confidential banking information to them.
